So, we assume AK is still in place... We're 99% sure at this point we'll never see him play 442 and I can see him sticking 532. Wonder if he might try and add a bit more creativity, maybe Sanchez at the point of a 3 man midfield with Harper/Sunjic sat behind him. Or, will he return to 4141/4231. Wednesday don't concede a lot of goals, and we don't score a lot!

Why don’t we go 41212. Play Sanchez and Bella narrow so they can run head on at defenders. Sunjic the anchor. Halilovich on point. Juke and Hogan up top. I know it’s like trying to convert somebody’s religion overnight, but Krackpot needs to set us up to play on the front foot.

442 diamond aka 41212

Do It!

If he is going two strikers up front we need width as well, but he cant seem to have both. Guy is too stubborn sticking to these 'methods' he believes in. Not being funny but a good manager adapts, he cannot.

I hope Cosgrove is back so we can see what he can do, with Hogan.

The fact that even when chasing a game that he decided he couldn’t go 442 with wingers and strikers says to me that he will never go with a traditional 442 with wide men...

I do miss the days when we had some proper wingers...

We have seen him set up 442 before and it was pretty dreadful. It was Rotherham at home and funnily enough everyone seemed to moan about him setting up like that as well. I don't really understand the clamour for it either in all honesty. I think it's less about the formation and more about what the personnel are being asked to do or not do.

You are right. The players themselves don't seem to have confidence in what they are trying to go. I am trying to think back to the last proper performance we gave where we were really coherent and confident. Fulham last game of the season under Monk where we beat Fulham 3-1 at home.

Can’t remember the formation of that one. Did he have traditional wingers or inverts?

As I’ve said, I’m not a “442 is the solution” championed, but right now, I don’t think a basic set up, with basic ideas would be a bad idea.

we need to start the juke and Hogan upfront with Bela and Sanchez out wide because although it is amusing seeing harlee dean thinking he is trent alexander Arnold, he's not really the person who needs to be putting balls into the box while we are in a relegation battle, i would like to see sunjic and harper as a pair in the midfield with sunjic being the "brute" in the midfield and allowing harper to dictate play in the middle but knowing our luck we will have clayton and msj as the wingers with hogan upfront as a target man.

I'd go along with that, to be fair, I was expecting that when he signed, but it's not happened.

Thought we'd be going something like:

Etheridge
Colin Dean Friend Pedersen
Sunjic Harper
Sanchez Halilovic Bela
Hogan

But he seems to be more favouring the 4141 of late, so maybe:

Etheridge
Colin Dean JCS Pedersen
Sunjic
Sanchez Harper Gardner Bela
Hogan

Although as @Screamoblue said the other day, Harper looks like he could offer composure and energy from the deeper role.
