As far as we're aware there was nothing in it. It was a strange one, even with the tedious link to Gardner.

Bluemachine wrote: Mon Jul 19, 2021 10:43 am I think once we announce Sanderson and either keeper we will be all set bar maybe 1

I dont like the idea of signing players for the sake of it as it often means limiting someones chances, even looking at the 2 different teams fielded Saturday shows our depth.

I am looking forward to seeing Hogan, Chuks, Leko all hopefully playing a part as there is a lot more to come from all 3 IMO (not forgetting Juke, only didnt add him as we already know what he is capable of) But signing another forward means limiting one of their chances.

We have Sanchez, Bela, Graham, Chong, Bailey, Mcgree for the wings so wouldnt make sense signing another 1.

If we play wing backs and LB sticks with 2 up top then the no.10 role looks a bit light. Mcgree, Sanchez, Lakin maybe Chuks? I think we could easily make do with what we have but if possible Id maybe look to bring a young No.10 low risk

CM we seem well covered We have Woods, Gards, Sunjic which i would say 2 of the 3 will be starting most matches. We also then have Stirk and Lakin (both looked good Sat) also Boyd munce to come in bringing in another one would limit the younger lads playing time

Defence (with Sanderson) looks decent. Colin Dean Roberts/Sanderson Peds if flat back 4 then we have Castillo Colin wing backs and all 3 CB playing or even Peds moving as part of the 3 like he did last season. I think i read Sanderson can also cover RB so we have a replacement if any of the links go in the back 4 and then with back up of Friend, Seddon, Gordon,

Not included Campbell or Oakley as i dont know much about either TBH
Far to sensible machine for me, where is the excitement? We have spent nothing sold nothing Bow must go and we seemed to play far too well, probable going to be stuck in a boring mid-table position, Bring back kranky now before it is to late.

haha ! I am split because as much as i loved mad stories like us wanting Pato ect i would much prefer someone coming in thats hungry and that cant wait to put that blues shirt on.

I really like the look of Woods and Graham and dont forget Stoke paid 7m for Woods so he would have probably acquired the highest transfer fee in the squad (actually hogan to the scum for 12m i think)

Graham looks a good pro and could have a real player on our hands. low risk

Chuks bit of a wildcard and looks a handful. low risk

Castillo and Chong have a mad pedigree and think we are lucky to get them.

Sanderson i havent seen much of if im honest but seems like we have done well to get it done.

I think we have done very good business and they wont all work out but its low risk we can go again when they dont. Instead you could have has been big bullox on 25k+ a week upsetting team dynamics and offering F all running his contract down eating a huge chunk of the wage bill up

I like the approach the club are taking

By the way how good was it to hear Friend say that he has been doing work with Leko in the close season as they have both been going to wast hills to train.

Fair play to friend at his age many would have their feet up what a pro i really hope he is around and about for as long as possible because he is a great role model

But also big fair play to Leko could have done anything with his time off and lets be honest after the stick he got last season at 21 years of age many wouldn't blame him but instead he has took it upon himself to go and put the graft in i know hes on great money and its what hes paid for ect ect but especially after LB comments after his first goal he really cares and really beats himself up and wants to impress so completely the opposite of people saying he runs round like he dont give a sh1t

Cracking post machine, I think Friend is an absolute cracker and would sign him now as a player-coach. I agree with everything you have said but my main hope is CHONG if he comes off I think instead of being as a midtable team as I believe he would propel us to a play off spot if not higher.

I think patience will be required with Chong, I suspect Bowyer will use him very sparingly at first. He's pretty much done at United, so this is him putting himself in the shop window for his own future now. He was a top performer in United's u23s, but has really struggled with the physical side when stepping up at Werder and Brugge. The championship is arguably more physical than both of those leagues, so this is going to be a real challenge for him. He's quick and has good feet, but that will only get him so far. It might be a while before he gets a proper run in the team with us, so I really hope our fans are patient and trust Bowyer with how he handles him. I think Castillo could be in the same boat too.

I've not got much expectations about him because his previous loan spells. We're getting a player though who has talent and is got a point to prove so it's a good gamble.

Castillo I have no idea about. Trouble is when I think about Chelsea full backs on loan I just remember Ben Gordon ... 🤮. Not really had the best luck when loaning full backs from top Prem teams recently have we, you can add Bramall and Jenkinson to the list. Fingers crossed he can buck the trend.
